Harrow Road & Monks Park On-Street Parking Proposed Changes

Closed 26 Jul 2019

Opened 28 Jun 2019

Overview

The Council has received requests from local businesses for the provision of short term parking on Harrow Road and Monks Park. At a recently held meeting, businesses raised an issue with the non-availability of short-term parking spaces due to all-day free parking (except on Wembley Stadium Event days), which causes loss of passing trade.

By introducing a Pay and Display / Pay by Phone scheme to the existing free parking bays in Harrow Road and Monks Park, we would be able to increase the supply of short term parking, resulting in a regular turnover of spaces for residents, visitors and shoppers.

Why We Are Consulting

The current restrictions only apply on Wembley event days when there is a two hours’ restriction with no return within two hours. It is proposed to introduce a short term Pay & Display / Pay by Phone parking scheme on Harrow Road and on a section of Monks Park as per the attached drawing. If this scheme is approved, pay and display machines will be installed in both locations. Details of the scheme are provided in the plan attached.

The proposed parking scheme will operate Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 6.30pm with a maximum stay of two hours with no return within two hours. Parking will be free on weekends and on bank holidays, however the proposed scheme will apply on event days from 8am to midnight.

A disabled parking bay for Blue Badge holders will be installed on Harrow Road.

Advantages:

  • Increases short stay parking spaces for local residents, businesses and shoppers.
  • Prevents all day commuter parking.
  • Contributes towards better air quality by reducing the time taken for shoppers to look for parking spaces.

We are consulting directly affected residents and businesses within the area, please complete and return the questionnaire. An exhibition has been arranged at the Islamic Cultural Centre, 72 Harrow Road on Tuesday 9 July 2019 – 5pm to 8pm. This will provide residents and businesses an opportunity to discuss the scheme with our engineers. Your views are important to us and we thank you for your participation.
