Brent's Draft Climate Emergency Strategy

Closed 15 Jan 2021

Opened 17 Nov 2020

Brent Council declared a climate and ecological emergency in 2019 and recently set out proposals for tackling this locally in a document called the Draft Climate Emergency Strategy (please scroll down for the link) . Becoming a carbon neutral borough by 2030 will take a collective effort by everyone. This was something that members of the Brent Climate Assembly stressed as they learnt more about the scale of the challenge and what’s at stake. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. You can find more information and tips on our Climate Emergency website pages,, and sign up there to the Brent Environmental Network for regular updates

Why we are consulting

We have seen from the response to Covid-19 that collective action is not only possible, but can be powerful. Becoming a carbon neutral borough by 2030 will take collective action by everyone.

By reading and commenting on the strategy you can help shape how we all take this forward to achieve our ambitions.

What happens next

We will analyse your responses and opinions. These will be fed into the final version of the draft Climate Emergency Strategy before it goes before Cabinet for approval.

We will launch the final version in April 2020, and we will promote and support a range of actions for all to take to help make the changes we need to make.
